Privacy policy
Last updated: November 2026
This policy explains what the Enterprise Technology Association (ETA) collects when you use joineta.org, join ETA, register for an ETA event or receive our email, how we use it, and the choices you have. Questions? Email hello@joineta.org.
What we collect
What you give us. When you join, update your profile, register for an event, apply to a program or send us a form, we collect what you enter: your name, email address, title, organization, LinkedIn profile, city, state and ZIP code, the topics and goals you choose, and anything you write in a message.
Sign-in. You can sign in with a one-time email link, Google or LinkedIn. If you use Google or LinkedIn, they share your name, email address and profile photo with us. We never receive your Google or LinkedIn password.
Membership, tickets and payments. We keep records of your membership level, event registrations, tickets, check-ins, session picks and purchases. Payments are processed by Stripe. Your card details go directly to Stripe and are never stored by ETA.
How you use the site. Our own analytics record the pages you view and actions such as joining, starting checkout or saving a listing. They use a random visitor ID stored in a cookie and note where your first visit came from (for example a link in an email or a search result). We do not store your IP address or browser details in our analytics, and we keep these records for 13 months. We also use Vercel Analytics, which counts visits in aggregate without cookies.
Email. When we send you email, our email provider (Resend) tells us whether it was delivered, opened or clicked, and whether it bounced. We use this to measure our newsletters and to stop sending to addresses that bounce or report spam.
The ETA Concierge. If you ask the assistant on our site a question, your question is sent to our AI provider (Anthropic) to write the answer. We do not store the text of your questions.
How we use it
- To run your membership and your account, including points, rewards and the Events Passport.
- To register you for events, issue tickets and check you in.
- To send the email you ask for: sign-in links, receipts, tickets, the weekly digest, search alerts and ETA news. You choose which of these you get (see below).
- To answer your messages and requests.
- To understand what is working on the site and improve it.
- To keep the site secure and prevent abuse.
The member directory
The member directory is opt-in. If you turn on your listing in My ETA, other signed-in members can see your name, title, organization, city, LinkedIn profile, headline and interests. Your email address and phone number are never shown. Intro requests go to the ETA team, who make the connection. You can turn your listing off at any time.
Who we share it with
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only:
- With service providers who run parts of our service for us: Vercel (hosting), Supabase (database), Resend (email), Stripe (payments), Anthropic (the assistant), and Google and LinkedIn (if you use them to sign in). They may use your information only to provide their service to us.
- With event partners, when you register for an event ETA produces with a partner, only as needed to run that event, and as described at registration.
- With AI Ready America and its state programs (AI Ready Ohio, AI Ready Georgia), which ETA supports, when you take part in their training or programs through ETA.
- When the law requires it, or to protect the rights and safety of ETA, our members or others.
Cookies
We use a small number of first-party cookies:
- Sign-in: keeps you signed in to My ETA (up to 30 days).
- Joining: remembers your place in the join form (7 days).
- Analytics: a random visitor ID (180 days) and where your first visit came from (90 days).
- Referrals: remembers a member's invite link (30 days).
We do not use advertising cookies.
Your choices
- Email: choose what you get in My ETA under Email preferences, or use the unsubscribe link in any email. Sign-in links, tickets and receipts are always sent.
- Your profile: view and update your details in My ETA at any time.
- Access and deletion: to get a copy of your information or ask us to delete it, email hello@joineta.org. We may keep records we are required to keep, such as payment records.
How long we keep it
We keep your account information while you are a member and for a reasonable time afterward, unless you ask us to delete it. Analytics records are kept for 13 months. Payment records are kept as long as the law requires.
Security
We protect your information with access controls, encryption in transit and limited staff access. No system is perfectly secure, so please tell us right away at hello@joineta.org if you suspect a problem with your account.
